New standard Inspected for safe usage The EU-wide safety standard for outdoor fitness areas entered into force in 2015. Lappset has updated all its products covered by the standard to meet the new requirements. The trend is clear throughout Europe: the demand for outdoor fitness areas in public places is increasing. In other words, people want to exercise outdoors, and therefore the authorities wish to ensure that this can be done safely. Therefore, a new EU-wide safety standard entered into force in 2015. We have naturally updated the products which are covered by the standard to meet the new requirements. Among Lappset products, the new standard (EN 16630) applies to Gym, Fitness and Senior Sport equipment. Another EU-wide standard will be issued for Parkour products. All pieces of equipment are carefully inspected We have an extensive range of products, some of which are not covered by the standard. The standard does not apply to free weight equipment, but we have ensured their safety as well. The independent inspection agency TÜV has given a statement on Lappset’s free weight products according to which they are safe to use. Still, in the planning of fitness areas, it is good to take into account that free weight products should not be placed in the immediate vicinity of playgrounds or day care centres, for example.
